International Student Admissions (Master)

To apply for BAU’s Graduate Programs, the following materials are required:

  • A. Online Application
  • B. Copy of Bachelor Transcript (must be in English)
  • C. Proof of English Language Proficiency*
  • D. Photocopy of Passport
  • E. GMAT Score (optional)
  • F. Bank Statement
  • G. Sponsor Letter (if applicable)
  • H. Letters of Recommendation (2)
  • I. Personal Essay

Below are the details for each requirement listed above:


A) Online Application – Applicants must submit a completed application form. Incomplete applications will NOT be considered for admission until all necessary information has been provided.


B) Transcript – The issuing educational institution must issue and mail the transcript directly to Bay Atlantic University, to the attention of the Admissions Office.

  1. If the Bachelor’s degree was issued by a foreign institution of higher education, the applicant must provide an evaluation of the transcript from a NACES-member (http://www.naces.org/) or an AICE member (http://www.aice-eval.org) credential evaluation service to establish U.S. equivalency of a Bachelor’s degree.  The evaluation must be a course-by-course evaluation of the transcript.
  2. If the Bachelor’s degree transcript is not in English, the applicant must provide a certified English translation.
  3. If the transcript does not clearly indicate the degree awarded, the applicant must provide a notarized copy of the college or university diploma.

*C) Proof of English language proficiency – All applicants whose first language is not English must submit proof of English language proficiency to BAU. This requirement is waived if the applicant’s Bachelor’s degree transcript explicitly notes that the language of instruction for the degree was English. Otherwise, English language proficiency can be established by providing an official score report for one of our approved standardized English proficiency tests.

D) Passport – Only an official government-issued ID or passport will be accepted.  For international students, only a Passport copy is an acceptable form of identification.


E) GMAT Exam – Optional exam.  Not necessary for admission, but exam score can be used for scholarship. (See bottom for more details)


F) Bank statement – Statement shows proof of adequate financial resources. The balance must show at least $26,500. If the applicant has any dependents, the bank statement must balance must increase by $10,000 per dependent.


G) Sponsor Letter – If the bank statement the applicant provides is not in the applicant’s name, then the applicant must provide a written statement from the owner of the bank account that (a) explicitly states that that person can and will financially support the applicant for the duration of the applicant’s studies in the United States, and (b) provides a reason why the sponsor wishes to financially support the applicant.


H) Letters of Recommendation – 2 letters from former teachers, employers, coaches, etc.


I) Personal Essay – A 1-2 page letter of intent. Choose one of the essay topics below:

  1. Describe who you are, your purpose and goals, your accomplishments, and why you want to get a higher education degree.

  2. What is the most meaningful contribution to others you have made in your life? How do you understand the value of it on others?

  3. What is the biggest challenge you have had in your life and how have you dealt with it?

  4. What character in history do you associate yourself most with and why?

FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS WHO ARE ALREADY IN THE UNITED STATES

In addition to the materials listed above, international students who are already in the United States on an F1 or other visa must submit the following materials:

  1. If the student is in the U.S. on an F1 visa, a “SEVIS Transfer Eligibility Form”
  2. If the student is in the U.S. on a non-F1 visa, the prospective student must go through a “Change of Status” process through USCIS. Please refer to BAU’s “Change of Status Guide.”

BAU offers a number of scholarships to students based on their academic achievement. Students with the following GMAT scores may be considered for scholarships:
